Clean Miami Beach is dedicated to keeping our community and natural habitats free of garbage and harmful pollutants with a focus on single-use plastics.
The goal is to teach residents, and educate the youth of today, how everyone can reuse, re-purpose, and reduce the consumption of plastic.
By growing the local volunteer community, Clean Miami Beach will provide a clean place for residents, visitors, and a safe environment where our beautiful wildlife can thrive.

Clean Miami Beach seeks to continue providing the Miami-Dade community with: healthy outside activities, ways to connect with nature, stable social interactions, a platform for education, community service hours, and mentorship opportunities.

ABOUT CLEAN MIAMI BEACH

Clean Miami Beach, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Miami Beach resident Sophie Ringel, with a mission dedicated to the protection of Miami Beach and its marine wildlife.

While our roots may be in organizing beach cleanups, our organization has evolved to encompass a wide range of initiatives and programs aimed at creating a cleaner, more sustainable environment for our community.

Clean Miami Beach, Inc is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by Miami Beach resident Sophie Ringel dedicated to the protection of beautiful Miami Beach and its marine wildlife.

Our journey began with small-scale cleanups of Miami Beach and nearby wetlands, organized by Sophie Ringel and a group of dedicated friends. Over time, our commitment to a clean and safe environment has resonated with individuals and groups across the city. Today, our volunteer base includes not only residents and students but also city officials, diplomats, public safety and defense agencies, and corporate partners all united by a shared passion for making a difference.

In addition to our cleanup efforts, we have expanded our reach through various educational programs designed to raise awareness about environmental issues and the importance of sustainable practices. These programs encompass Classroom on the Sand, Micro-Plastic Art Workshop, Trash to Change Workshop, and in-school presentations. Through these initiatives, we aim to empower our community to take proactive steps towards environmental stewardship.

Clean Miami Beach, Inc. stands as a multifaceted organization committed to the long-term well-being of Miami Beach and its marine ecosystem. While our beach cleanups remain a cornerstone of our work, we have grown to encompass a holistic approach to environmental conservation, including education, mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement. Our mission is not only to clean our beaches but to inspire a lasting commitment to environmental sustainability within our community.

Sophie Ringel began by organizing cleanups of Miami Beach and the wetlands close to her home with friends. As her engagement grew and word of her commitment to a clean and safe environment for wildlife and sustainable business alike became known, her organized cleanup volunteers intensified to include City officials, the Miami Beach Police Department Officers, students, teachers, and executives who care about making a difference.

About us

Why is plastic bad for the environment?

Plastic never biodegrades. It just breaks down into tiny plastic particles called micro-plastics. Researchers have recently found these micro-plastics in: drinking water, beer, table salt, birds, seafood, and even humans.
